If you use softboxes, or anything that can touch or be near the light, be sure to use the kind that can withstand the heat. You will find that 500w is not much and unless the rest of the room is as bright as what your subject is experiencing you subject will squint.Īs of light modifiers : Well, it's easy to find grips that will fit your setting and everything can be made to work. Have any experience with using these in photography? Are these in any way suitable for photography? Does anyone Really bright 500W Halogen lamps used on building sites for little I would like to experiment with studio photography but I do not Hi! This might sound like a stupid question to most of you but i am i'm sure that wouldn't be much of a problem when shooting raw, but then you should make sure that the halogen lamp(s) is/are the only light source, because mixing ambient light and halogen lighting will only end you up with white balancing issues. It was shot in jpeg, so i couldn't adjust white balance. Heat was not an issue because the lamp was only turned on for a minute or two, but i could imagine, that it will get a problem if used for a longer time period and more than just one lamp. as background i used what is usually used to project transparency slides onto (don't know what's the word in english).ĭue to limited space, i wasn't able to move further away from the background, so you can see my shadow. a white wall camera left was used as a reflector. set up camera right about 1,5m away from me. I tried to do a self-portrait some months ago using one of these 500w halogen lamps you're talking about.
